Pepe Fanjul replies “You have to have a balance between the environment and economic development. Something has to be done for the humans, too.”

Florida Crystals is the company that added a biomass generator to their sugar mill at Okeelanta, so the most energy-intensive part of their process is done without power from the grid. U.S. Sugar’s bigger, newer plant, which the state is on the hook for if the acquisition goes through, does not have this green feature.
