Please join Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission (FWC) at Fisheating Creek WMA at the Field Office located on Banana Grove Road, just off CR 78 north of Moore Haven, Jan 10th from 10 a.m. 2 p.m. We are celebrating a new trail opening at Fort Center with lots of fun, hands-on activities and dynamic speakers sharing the story of Fisheating Creek through time. There is no admission fee and plenty of entertainment for all ages.
- Audubon volunteers will be leading early morning birding tours by reservation only beginning at 8 a.m. Call Liz Sparks at 850-922-6160 to sign up.
- Ride an interpretive hayride with biologists to the new Ft. Center trail
- Learn how to read animal tracks with David Austin, retired FWC
- Kristin Wood, Director of FWC’s Chinsegut Nature Center, will share ‘Incredible Edibles’ common plants good enough to eat
- Tom Matthews, FWC invites you to meet ‘critters of the creek’ up close and personal
- Kayak and canoe trips offered (depending on water levels)
- Learn birding and wildlife viewing basics
- Local conservation groups will have exhibits
Speakers will do presentations:
- Ken Meyers Swallowtail kites of Fisheating Creek
- Nancy Dale – Cow Hunte rs of Wild Florida < /div>
- Archeologists – the early inhabitants of the creek

Traditional country cookin’ vendor will join us.
Event will be cancelled for rain.
