Explore Lake Okeechobee on an Airboat Adventure!
Event Description:
Discover the natural wonders of Florida on a unique airboat tour through Lake Okeechobee and the Florida Everglades. This is your chance to witness breathtaking scenery and capture incredible wildlife moments among the diverse wetlands.
On this adventure, you may spot:
- Birds: American Bittern, American Kestrels, Bald Eagles, Purple and Common Gallinule, Ospreys, Snail Kites, and Red-shouldered Hawks.
- Wildlife: Turtles, frogs, rabbits, snakes, and the iconic American alligator.
Our Captain will guide us along Steins Canal, to Kramer Island, and out onto Lake Okeechobee. Routes may vary depending on water levels.
Event Details
Meeting Point: At the boat ramp.
- Take the second left as you cross the bridge onto the island.
- The boat docks are at the end of the parking lot.
Cost: $120 for members, $145 for non-members (includes boat ride & gratuity). Payment instructions will follow upon registration.
What to Expect
Attire:
- Bring a jacket, as lake temperatures drop quickly.
- Closed-toed shoes that can get wet.
- Provided: Ear protection will be supplied by the airboat operator.
- Field Guide: This tour focuses on fun and adventure. A field guide will not be provided.
- Restroom Facilities: Available throughout the area.
- Accessibility: Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome. The boat is designed to accommodate wheelchairs and assistive walking devices.
Photography Policy
We encourage participants to capture and share the beauty of our birding adventures. By signing the Audubon Everglades consent form, you agree to have your photo taken and shared on our social media pages.
Ethical Photography and Wildlife Viewing
We promote ethical photography, birding, and wildlife viewing. Participants are reminded to:
- Avoid feeding or harassing wildlife.
- Maintain a respectful distance to ensure the safety and well-being of animals.
- Refrain from disrupting natural behaviors or altering habitats for the sake of photographs.
Failure to adhere to these principles will result in dismissal from the event and disqualification from participating in future trips. By participating in this event, you agree to uphold these standards and respect the wildlife we encounter.
Cancellation Policy
If you register but are unable to attend, please cancel your ticket to allow others the opportunity to join this adventure.
- Please cancel at least seven days before the trip if you are unable to attend.
- If the boat does not get filled, the trip will be canceled.
- We reserve the right to cancel this trip.
- In the event of inclement weather, the trip will be postponed to a later date.
Directions
From Palm Beach International Airport:
- Get on FL-80 W/US-98/Southern Blvd from James L Turnage Blvd and Australian Ave (5 min, 2.6 mi).
- Follow US-98 to Hooker Hwy (41 min, 36.9 mi).
- Continue straight onto Hooker Hwy (8 min, 2.3 mi).
- Arrive at Torry Island. Take the first left by the bait shop.
- The boat ramp is at the end of the parking lot.
