Nature Journaling

October 22, 2021 @ 6:30 pm 7:30 pm

Field Guide: Autumn Kioti

In this two part workshop, one part virtual, one part in-person experience, we’ll journey to the crossroads of art, ecology, and exploration. During the virtual portion of the workshop, taking place on October 22, we will begin by defining Autumn’s version of nature journaling and their materials, and then explore various techniques in preparation for part 2 of the workshop. During part 2 of the workshop, when we will meet in person at Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge, we will use the techniques taught in part 1; finding the questions in nature, learning to create images “in the field,” and using the natural world to take a journey deeper into ourselves and our artistic practices.

This workshop focuses not only on drawing or painting skills, but will also delve into creative writing, and even citizen science! At the end of this workshop, you’ll know how to translate this lesson into a practice that continues out-of-doors and anywhere you find yourself with a pencil and paper.

This workshop is offered through a partnership between Audubon Everglades and Wildness is Necessary.

$3.00 Supply fee that covers both classes.
