What You Need to know
At a previous meeting at Audubon Everglades, Justin Dalaba, one of the University of Florida “Croc Docs”, shared important information about the invasive Nile Monitor lizards in Palm Beach County. Justin had educational materials with him and was available after the program to answer questions.
The UF “Croc Docs” are a team of biologists, ecological modelers, and outreach specialists on the forefront of wildlife research in south Florida and the Caribbean. They study crocodilians, invasive reptiles, threatened and endangered species, and climate change and human dimensions.
By reporting sightings, you can help them in their work to better understand distribution, relative abundance, and future management of Nile monitors in Palm Beach County.
